Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for details.
A senior representative stated the incident left him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
